If you’re hunting for reliable cloud storage without spending a dime, you’ve probably come across dozens of options — but not all free services are created equal. Based on overall user experience, we’ve ranked six of the best free cloud storage providers in 2025. This list focuses on real-world usability: interface, performance, trust, and convenience — not just raw storage size or marketing claims.
🥇1. pCloud – Great for Media Storage
- Free Storage: 10 GB (expandable to 20 GB)
- Why It’s #1: pCloud is strong for users looking to stream or preview media directly in the cloud. Its lifetime plans and flexible sharing features make it attractive, though the UI feels slightly older.
- Highlights:
- Built-in media player
- File sharing with download stats
- Optional lifetime plan
- Downside: Encryption is a paid add-on
👉 Create your free pCloud account and start storing media instantly
🥈 2. Filen – Best for Minimalists & Privacy Nerds

- Highlights:
- End-to-end encryption

5. IDrive – Best for Backups, Not for Daily Use
- Free Storage: 10 GB

- File versioning and sync
- Downside: Clunky interface, not designed for file browsing or media

I went through most of them comparing them side by side and ended up with Strato HiDrive (not on your list). You might want to test it, I really like the end-to-end encryption and the flexible options how you can integrate it and use it. It also comes with an App.

Thanks for your feedback! Unfortunately HiDrive doesn’t seem to offer a lifetime free storage 😦
